Wasn't sure where else to put this but thought some of you could help. My Mum's recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. She's had the lump removed and has just had her second chemo session. She's lost her hair but has a lovely wig. She's coping very well, but I seem to be a little off balance. Have any of you experienced cancer or had a close family member go through it. Mum is brilliant and it looks like it's okay as it hasn't spread anywhere else. I can see how supportive you all are and how good you are at cheering people up. Just thought I'd share, Lynn x

I'm sorry to hear about your Mum, although it is good that she seems to be getting on ok. I think that things like this do affect everyone in the family, and I bet you are trying really hard to keep on top of things and be chirpy all the time for your mum's sake - what a strain that must be.
I think you have to look after yourself as well, so that you can celebrate properly when your Mum is fully recovered. In the meantime I am sending you a virtual hug... and I prescribe some extra Julian viewing as a pick-me-up.

Regarding your news; I am sorry to hear about your Mum being diagnosed...sounds like she is coping well and I am sure she needs a fair bit of looking after (obviously I don't need to point that one out but...) and it may end up taking its "toll" on you but, try and stay strong for both your sakes (easier said than done I know) and remember, to look after yourself too (because, looking after some-one ill can make you forget about looking after yourself...I know this 'cos I've seen it when my mum was helping look after my aunt when she had it and not looking after herself that well)
Plus...there is so much they can do for cancer these days, I am sure your mum will pull through eventually!
Best Wishes xx

My beloved Auntie has been in remission for 6 years now. She had one breast removed, then chemo followed by radiotherapy. We all took turns wearing the wig. We thought we were going to lose her a couple of times but shes a fighter and we all fought with her.
It is terribly upsetting seeing the ones you love frightened and in pain. You feel helpless but just being there for your mum is a grand job in itself. You must make sure you can vent your own fears and frustrations though to your friends on here and at home. Don't bottle anything up.

Unflortunately Lynn I lost my mother to breast cancer more that 13 years ago now. It sounds to me as if the signs for your mum are very good. My mother didn't fair so well, her's had spread. I shall keep everything crossed for your mum. I remember my mums wig, it was fantastic, I used to do it for her, it just used to look like she'd been to the hairdressers. I have to say the NHS do good wigs!
While i'm here I have just gotten back from taking part in the Hydro-active Women's challenge. I completed the course in 55 mins 12 seconds, not a brilliant time but hey at least i finished. I just like to say a big thankyou to everyone who sponsered me. I think when all the money comes in I will have raised (with your help of course) £140.00 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. Thanks again

Thank you all so much for your wonderful words. I have tears in my eyes as I write but have also laughed too. The Misc thread can hopefully carry on a bit jollier now. Thanks again for the boost, the hugs and the smiles x Lynn x

Minki like everyone else my thoughts are with you and hope your mum is on the mend soon.
Boo has survived 10 days without me or his brother. I've been offered a new kitten but not sure if it's a good idea or not.
France was great come home very tanned but not at all relaxed. Mini spent all his time in the pool with his Aunty. He swam without armbands so I gave him a badge that says ' I did it and I'm proud. It was only a sticker but he loves it and has worn it ever since.
He also now owns a bodyboard with Buzzlightyear on it ( his aunt is a soft touch) so now I have to teach him to use that. He saw his Aunt surf ( the waves were amazing) so he wants to do it too. The world pro-surf was on there so he's well into it now.
So in short the sun was hot, the beach beautiful and the surf and surfers hot! Had a great time even managed to listen to some of the JRT books that Baggie sent me.
Missed you all, did think of you when my family took a detour to Sainte Julien en Born just because they thought I'd appriciate the name

forgot the most important bit of the holiday ( not including Paul the rather cute welsh surfer I met and may be meeting up with). I have a bruise on my Jaw from my surf board smacking me one.But the biggest bruise is from
the fact that with 2 downstairs bedrooms and one sunny attic one my family decided that putting me upstairs was a good idea! Sure you've already guessed but I fell down the spiral carpeted staircase so now I have a masive bruise and a carpet burn
When my family started to look for propeties abroad ( if they have their way I'll be in france or greece in 18 months) suddenly realised I was only looking at bungalows

Thank you for your words. Mum had her 3rd chemo session today and is feeling good apart from a slight nose tingling. Only one session left and then her radiotherapy starts. My sister is taking her on a Caribbean cruise for Christmas so she has that to look forward to.
Sorry to hear about your fall and your bruises, but I'm still laughing at the fact your family took a detour for you just so you could see the name. They are obviously very sympathetic to your addiction.
Good luck with the surfer too

well he has been in touch but it's a bit too cold to surf now. The obsession is running through my family. Mum has nicked the audio books and eldest sister thinks he's quite good-looking in the barclaycard ads and even mini macs mum has said he's quite sweet. Mini kept wanting to listen to the audio books too! (this is why I need him to do an audio book of bedtime stories for 3 year olds)
Think they're all taping miss marple for me.
Hope you're all having a great weekend I've got a wedding dress and 2 boleros to make by tonight as it's a rush order for someone going on a cruise tomorrow. Slightly fed up as someone I know who doesn't normally want the kid she already has about 90% of the time thinks she may be pregnant again.
If you can't cope with one then why have another one and the bloke has said he'll walk if she is. Just been told the parenting classes for the adoption won't be on til next year maybe I should just go out tonight get drunk and do the same as everyone I seem to know, but it's really not my style

Mac V I'm so sorry to hear about your divorce, you seemed such a together couple at Landscape
Also Minki so sorry to hear your news, my mum died age 48, when I was 18, treatment has come on in leaps and bounds since then [ 26 years ago] and the survival rate is so much higher and it sounds like your mum is doing well. Take care of her, but as everyone else has said take care of yourself too, DON'T bottle things up.

Spence, thank you so much for your kind words. We're all doing a lot better after the initial shock and as she hasn't been sick with the chemo, she has been carrying on as normal. It must have been very difficult to cope with that at the age of 18.
I am forever grateful that I have had my Mum for the last 37 years and that she got to see the granddaughter we never thought we'd have.
All being very positive and we do talk about it and actually include the word Cancer rather than ignoring it. My Mum says we should all get on with our lives, that is the total unselfish person that she is.
It's very sad to hear of the many divorces the ladies on here have been through or are going through. Makes me thankful for all the special things I have.
Big hugs to everyone and thanks again. x

So thanks to the english rugby team I have to make a decision. Do I go see the european ballet perform Coppelia next sat or cancel to watch the rugby.
Think the rugby wins ( can always go to the matinee of the ballet). Mind you ballet then rugby does seem a varied day
