Uncle Max

Postby chatterbox » Mon Apr 14, 2008 2:02 pm

I hear that Julian has a small role coming up in the next series of the children's tv show Uncle Max. I don't know which episode, so those of you with young children will have a good reason to share quality tv watching time with your kids!!

And the rest of us had better find an excuse pretty quickly

What day of the week is it on I may have to be a lovely sister and offer to look after Mini Mac :D

Mind you I would still look after Jake even if Julian wasn't involved, it's just an being favourite Aunty should come with some perks shouldn't it

I don't think the new series is being shown yet, so it will be a case of keeping a look out I think.

So it's definitely not the series that's on at the moment then?

I haven't got a clue.... All I know is that an appearance can be expected at some point in the fairly near future..... I'm a useless informant aren't I?

Actually, looking at this, they are repeats, I think from series 1, so definitely not one of these.

BBC children’s TV series ‘Uncle Max 2’, directed by Simon Hynd, is about to wrap filming on a five week shoot on location in Galway.

The 13x12” series, produced by Dublin’s Little Bird Productions, began shooting on Tuesday 25th March and will wrap this Saturday, 26th April.

The comedy series, scripted by David Armand and David Schneider, follows the adventures of 9-year-old Luke and his larger than life and twice as accident prone Uncle Max. The series stars David Schneider (28 Days Later, The Boss) as Uncle Max, with 10 year old Irish actor Jonathan Hanly in the role of his nephew, Luke.

’Uncle Max’ was originally aired by ITV1 in 2006. However, after commissioning a further 39 episodes, ITV cancelled the order due to cutbacks in its children’s programming (but honouring the contract and development work). BBC is repeating the first series on CBBC before airing their second installment this Autumn.

’Uncle Max 2’, which received funding from the IFB Regional Support Fund, features different guest stars in each 12 minute episode including British funnyman Frank Skinner, Julian Rhind – Tutt (Green Wing) , Debbie Chazen (Midsomer Murders, The Smoking Room) and Irish actor Joseph Lydon.

DOP on the shoot was Jonathan Kovel (Anner House), with Michael Woolf and Calum Ross taking charge of editing.

Produced by Nahrein Mirza, with Irish production designer Nicola Moroney (The Last Furlong, Speed Dating).

Ooh, does this mean Julian will be employing an Irish accent in this?!

Thanks Kim. Apparently he's in the one where Uncle Max plays the piano and he's the conductor (musical, I assume, not bus!). I read this on an Uncle Max site or group a while ago, but can't find it again now.

As a trained musician, I'm sure he'll make a great conductor. They should nobble him for the next series of Maestro...
