Your mention of the way JRT runs reminded me of one of the things I love most about him - the way he does aeroplane-arms or acrobatics when making a dramatic entrance or exit!
Love the bit in Series 1 Ep 5 when he spins round to ask Caroline if there'll be many vertical people at the party, and the jump over the chair after they've signed Angela's leaving card in Series 2. So adorable and a lovely extension of his sqeeable 'hand-centric' style of acting!
