I see some kind person on JRT's bit of livejournal has downloaded 'Basil' onto realplayer .... if anyone's interested in hearing those wonderful, ducet tones again?! [ ]

Basil - radio 4 play with JRT
" A few very charming ladies down at my Dad's whist drive have been very kind (average age 75-93). My brother is the headmaster of a special school and I know some of his dinner ladies have been very kind to me as well. "

I came across this website below and the video on there is brilliant! I couldn't find a reference to it on this forum, but maybe I just overlooked because it's not a really recent vid. It could very well be that everyone has seen it already plenty of times, but I hadn't

I wasn't able to watch it with firefox, but internet explorer does the trick. It doesn't matter which password you enter, it will play anyway

We do have a link to it in our video section (in ' Interviews and Behind the Scenes'), but however you found it, it is very good isn't it? My favourite is the bit when they are making the sound effects
Re: Basil - radio 4 play with JRT
oh sorry, than I must have overlooked it
Indeed that bit with the soundeffects is very funny, also a few seconds later when they are giggling about it when they hear themselves back.
I also like the part with his monoloque, where he really uses his arms to get the emotion right. Now everytime when I hear a radioplay again I get visions of him standing there saying his lines hehe

It's "late to the party" me again! I am so tantalised by the talk of this "In a recording studio - Making of Basil" piece. There is a link to it on the website, but it has long since expired, and goes no where. My great hope is that someone kept a copy of it, and that I could somehow access it.
Any chance? (said in a small voice, but looking hopeful). I'm fascinated both because I work in theatre, and love programmes like this, and also of course because it involves Julian working.

Sadly, this was in the early days of the website, and so we did lose some stuff through trusting that it would stay available.... Since then I have learnt a thing or two, which means that although we still lose some stuff we are getting better at it..
If anyone had the sense to convert this video into another format and/or has it safely stored away, let me know !!
