Marple TV Series

Having spent two days with the Marple DVD (one spent trying to figure out how to play it on my computer {got there in the end with hubby's help!}; and the other trying to get sound on it), I'm thoroughly confused.
I mean, even I know that you put a DVD in the relevant drive, click on "Play" and hey presto! - except on this occasion............
I'm absolutely certain it's fine (don't panic, everyone!) - it's just that my puny brain can't cope. Either that or (horror of horrors!) my computer's had enough of Julian!
I'll give it another go with hubby tonight and if it still doesn't work, I'll send it on to Kim. Hopefully she'll have better luck with it than I.

You can't open it directly in a DVD program like Power DVD...you have to put it in the drive, go to the My Computer folder, double click on the DVD drive icon that should've appeared, then the file should be there for you to open in whatever program you want. If it doesn't work immediately in windows media player you'll need to download the divx codec (you can find free downloads if you google it). If that doesn't work then download VLC Player as that will play pretty much anything.
My husband talked me through the divx codec download late last night (one of the many perks of being married to a geek! ) and that worked - except for the small matter of the sound. We didn't get any further because it was past his bedtime, poor chap.
I'll give the VLC Player a try, though - thanks, FQ!

Could I have it after you then please Jade? I don't know if its been shown over here yet (as I've been away for most of last month) and have added it to my amazon rental list but it says something like "details after 30th september!"
Let me know when you want my address
Oooh this sounds great. Can I get in the queue after you, baggie?

Oh well perhaps I'll wait and see then - the copy might not have gone around everyone by the end of the month anyway....but we'll see...can never have too much of Julian anyway!
Someone on the Mangan forum has found out that Steve's episode is going to be shown on ITV1 on 23rd Sept...so Julian's should follow shortly after that hopefully!

Watched the dvd a couple of days ago and as G&C is on her hols, it's winging its way to Baggie at the moment.
Julian was simply fab in it. He features much more than his lowish billing on the cast list would imply and for those worried about the dye-job, I'm sure I detected a hint of fraise (albeit without the blond) coming through the brown!
Won't say too much - don't want to spoil the viewing, but the slide show at the start had me in stitches!
Thanks so much to Faeriequeen for downloading it - a fantastic watch!

Ordeal by Innocence will be shown on 30th September - Yay!!!
Excerpt from interview with Julian in the Press Pack
"Doctor Calgary is a scientist and an explorer, who has been in the arctic. He's a quiet man with the pedantry of a scientist. He's one of the more light hearted characters in this story, but he stumbles across some crucial information and he stirs it all up. And he gets a bit overexcited, bless him. Although I am one of the few people who isn't a suspect, I am attempting to keep the option open that I might have done it. I want to be a red herring!
You know when you fill up a ship to the critical mass and it sinks? Well eventually there was a critical mass of superstars in this episode and I thought it's time for me to get on board! Also I was talking to Mark Gatiss from one of the earlier episodes and he ridiculously brainwashed me one day into doing a Marple! Also I tend to do lots of things that are rude, with lots of swearing and sex scenes, so it was quite nice to do something I could show my aunties! I can hold it up to my family and say "look I've been in a Marple"!
Marples are very exciting if they are done right in a beautifully crafted and gentle way. They are classic stories. I don't read many of the novels, but I was always a fan of the Joan Hickson Miss Marples. And Geraldine brings her own peculiar brilliance and a youthful exuberance to it after Joan Hickson"
(thanks to RichardArmitageOnline for giving me the heads up on this!)

I had to watch Miss Marple! It was a matter of urgency! I have a huge respect for Stephen Mangan - don’t fancy him - but anything that’s connected to GW in any way I’ll watch……well, if I can’t have Julian (not long to wait for his episode tho - i'll be histerical!), Stephen’s the next best thing…i just think it's the Mac & Guy thing i love about them!
