Green Wing Weekend in Switzerland
Hi All, I wanted to see how much interest there would be in a Green Wing weekend in Switzerland.
What I have in mind is hiring a large Chalet in the Swiss Alps, which sleeps about 30. We could spend a lot of the time watching GW DVD's together on a Home Cinema Screen, which would be set up by my son, who lives locally. The cost of the chalet would work out at about £15 to £20 per head depending on numbers, for the whole weekend.
Food & drink would be self catering, so would not be too expensive, I'm thinking lots of barbeques here and I could bring the wine in from France.
The Chalet is basic accomodation, small dormitories and shared bedrooms.
You would need to fly into Geneva Airport ( easyjet etc?) then take a train from the airport to Vevey, then change onto a mountain railway up to the chalet. The return train fare from Geneva all the way to the chalet is approx £35. (FQ has volunteered to be travel courier for this bit)
can I have some feedback about this crazy idea??? I am thinking about June 2008 as it needs to be in spring/summertime.

Here's the response I posted on the Winging It forum:
"What a spectacular idea, Rita and the views?!!! *gasp*
I'd love to come but I've never planned anything that far ahead and anything can happen between now and then and I've never been to Switzerland and............
Let's just say it's a [very] tentative yes for now, shall we? "

Sorry for the delay on this, I have finally got some more information about the chalet. The cost for 3 nights, friday to Monday would be £400 approx. There are 17 of us at the moment who are interested. I need at least 10 definites to go ahead and book, for 10 of us it would work out at £40 each for the whole weekend, any extra people after that & it gets progressively cheaper.
I would like to book for June 20th-23rd 2008, as this is out of season and away from school holidays the flights are reasonable, if you booked that weekend at the moment British Airways Gatwick-Geneva, its £70, when Easyjet opens their booking I imagine it will be cheaper still.
As we would have the use of the chalet from Friday to Monday you could arrive & depart on the days that suit you.
Please could you post on here if you are still interested as I need to book asap if we are to go ahead

I'm delighted to say that, having had sufficient positive feedback, I have now booked the Chalet for 4 days, from 20th to 23rd June 2008 inclusive.
As it is such a large chalet there is plenty of room for anyone else that wants to join us, even husbands etc (if they can cope with a whole weekend of Green Wing madness!)
I am waiting to hear how much deposit they want for the chalet before I take any money from you.

Rita
it's already in my diary. Baggie and me are looking into travelling together so anyone else around the midlands area PM me if you want to join us.
Thankfully my parents are going to greece for their 44th wedding anniversary on the 20th June so I'm not in trouble
