Hi everyone! I've been lurking for about a month but have been too shy to say hello until now. Anyway, I discovered Julian in late May when I was in London on holiday (I'm from the States). Before my trip I was looking at the National Theatre's website, trying to find something to do on my first night. Landscape with Weapon looked interesting and I booked myself a ticket.

I arrived at the Cottesloe and slipped into my seat. The play started and shortly thereafter I had a severe OMGwhoisthisguy*flails* moment. Which surprised me because I'm not normally prone to that sort of thing. Really. The next day I was walking back from Borough Market when some mysterious force  pulled me into the foyer of the NT towards the box office, where the nice man behind the desk very helpfully sold me a ticket for the next night's performance.

So it's now Saturday night, the play has just gotten out, and I'm determined to stage-door this time. There were quite a few other people waiting when he emerged, and he was very nice with everyone. I was sort of hanging back a bit, a combination of shyness and not wanting to come across as overly pushy, but then he saw me standing there, said "Hello", and I promptly melted into a helpless puddle of squeeing fangirl (so much for my plan to dazzle him with my cleverness and wit).

I told him that I loved the play, how this was the second time I had seen it, and asked if he would mind signing my program. He then asked what my name was, and while he was writing in my program he was telling me how one of his friends had just had a baby and had given her daughter the same name. He was quite chatty, and by the time he was ready to give back the program, I had recovered enough of my courage to request a picture. He happily obliged, and put his arm around me as I handed my camera off. He even did a second picture with me, in case the first didn't come out (lovely, lovely man).

I actually ended up seeing Landscape *again* on the following Monday, ostensibly to do a favor for a Tom Hollander fan whom I had met while stage-dooring on Saturday (we had waited together in vain for him until 11:30 that night). Grabbing hold of any excuse to justify the purchase of another ticket, I told her that I would go again and get Tom to sign her program. When the play ended I went over to the stage door, desperately not wanting Julian to see me ("she's back again?!"). But of course he did see me and probably thought that I was an obsessive weird person. At least I was able to eventually find Tom and earn my good karma (me and some other girls were waiting ages in the cold).

And that is the story of how I discovered the fraise-blonde one and came to see LWW three times in the space of a week. :D

Hi Rita!

I'll get in trouble with Jools/Kim if I start chatting in this topic. I'll find somewhere else to reply on LWW

Hello, bookgirl! :foru:

I think it's wonderful that you stumbled upon Julian completely by accident and that he had the same effect on you as he has had on us! :D

I haven't managed to "dazzle him with my cleverness and wit" either but I'm glad to have met him a few times nonetheless as he's always friendly and appreciative to everyone.

If you've never come across Julian's work before, wait till you see him in Green Wing - boy, are you in for a treat!!!!!

Thank you for the kind welcome! Such a friendly bunch.

And I've just finished watching my Green Wing DVDs. I won't go into tons of detail on this thread, but I will say this...

:swoon:

Going to start in on Keen Eddie now.

Hi Everyone!

Another newbie delurking here. I have to admit to having been a longtime lurker on this, C4 and Wingin It/Away sites since Green Wing began, but my corner of Berkshire has just got broadband so now I can join in with the chatting properly, if you'll have me!

I can't remember ever not having admired the lovely fraise-blondness that is Mr Rhind-Tutt, although it may have started with Ab Fab, but I descended into worrying fangirlyness (despite having now turned 30) during the first series of GW and have been slightly obsessed, in a healthy way......, ever since.

Everyone seems very friendly on here, and it's nice to have the prospect of sharing space with people who don't look at me like this  , when I start raving about Julian. My friends have no taste!

Looking forward to getting to know you all.....

(PS - bit of a forum virgin, in the actual posting sense, so forgive me if the smilies etc didn't work. all tips gratefully received!)

 Haven't we all, maisie! There are quite a few thirty-somethings on this forum who are "slightly obsessed in a healthy way" so I wouldn't worry too much about it - :welcome: :foru: you're amongst friends; the more the merrier!!!!

Hello Maisie and Titch! :welcome: You'll have a great time here among the "slightly obsessed".

Whenever I've tried to tell people about the fraise-blonde one, I've gotten either blank looks or, even worse, the dreaded rolling of the eyes. Shocking...
