You all have taken such lovely photos... (although what is Julian doing with that pen Chi? )

I really enjoyed the talk yesterday and catching up with everyone. I went again today with my sons and they have moved on again in their performances - really is fantastic now.... such a shame they are nearly finished...

What is he doing with that pen - tryin' to poke your boob eh? cheeky Boy! after his comment about Pippa's personality; sounds like he was in a right cheeky mood - i think your picture just proves it!!!

And the hair...looks like he has had it cut - not the gorgeous "lion's mane" - Nooooooooooo!!

hello everyone!
Sorry not to have seen more of you before and after the talk - my intended train was cancelled, and I had to dash off to the Globe afterwards.

I thought the talk was really interesting - Emma Freud really knows how to run these things, the cast were on fine form, and the questions were great. Really liked the one from the chappie near me about Ned being so naive - that really threw me and it took me quite a bit to get into the play when I went to see it. I thought JRT's answer was really good re compression thing.

Thanks to Tutt Sweet for moving seats so my cousin could sneak out early. She had been invited to a private event inside the National for 6.30 - some students of her former drama teacher were holding some sort of performance and she wanted to check some out them out for her Shakespeare project for deaf students at Kenwood House in Hampstead that she's running this coming August. The irony is that they kept her waiting and she could have stayed til the end!!

Merchant of Venice was very good - you always get a good show at the Globe (well, I've been lucky the 4 times I've been now!) But at over 3 hours including interval thank goodness I have a well padded bum! There was loads of chatting going on in the audience, and one couple brought their very young baby with them! It was very good, considering, but even the quietest baby has to have the odd squawk! Oh, and the weather held out for us, which was fabulous.

Hope you all had a good evening. Our bookclub is meeting on 3 July, so hope to see some of you again then, even if it's very briefly!

Loved the review FQ - looks like you were onto a winner with that question, although Kate's was a stonker too.

He was on fire last night at the Q & A - witty, self-deprecating, incredibly clever and just downright laugh-out-loud funny. Richard Curtis was sitting behind me with his young son and by the end of the Q & A, I overheard him telling his dad how much he liked Julian.

Much as I like the rest of the cast, I don't think it would have been as much fun without Julian's facetious quips! :D
I loved his answer to Emma Freud's question:

Emma: So... what attracted you to this role, Julian?

Julian: Well, first of all the National Theatre is the only place you can make free 0207 phone calls from your dressing room...............

It also occurred to me last night that he'd be great on the QI panel - I think he'd definitely hold his own with the intellectually formidable Stephen Fry.

Oh Chi that's fantastic - I can just see him opposite Alan Davies... i reckon he'd be a hilarious contestant! *writes to the makers of QI...* =P

i can post you the money for the said article and the P&P... (obv. not before the day, it being tomorrow) but as soon as i can.

i would of course be your bestest friend for ever and ever and owe you a massivvve favour....

if anyone could manage that, then please tell me and i can pm you my details etc.

Please, please, pleeease let the NT release the Q&A as a podcast. It sounds like it was fantastic. I hope that everyone going tomorrow night has a brilliant time, and I can't wait to read your reports. If anyone's feeling particularly brave and/or cheeky, be sure to give him a hug for me. Or a squeeze, or a...

for those of us who are not going tonight... is it just me, or is the forum feeling somewhat quiet.... i for one can hear the tiptaps of my typing echoing.... :?

i have just realised that outside it is bucketing down the rain and i can hear very loud thunder and the room keeps flashing.... this 10 mile run should be fun
rain makes me hyper....
And i'm his brother Bob.
