Seven Ages of Rock

Postby chatterbox » Sun May 20, 2007 8:12 am

Seven Ages of Rock started last night - I would have watched it anyway as I always love these rock history things, but it was a lovely added bonus having Julian's voice as well. It is a seven part series, and it appears that Julian is doing all the narration :)

A nice little treat, although I found myself thinking that Jimi Hendrix may well be the greatest guitarist in the world ever, but it would be better if he would be quiet and let Julian talk... :D

I attempted to watch it with most of the family celebrating/sulking regarding the footy result. Although most of them did have the good grace to shut up when Julian was on. Apparently I was shooting them dirty looks. Did tape it though so will watch it later :D

Haven't watched it yet. My husband queried why I'd set it to record as we'll usually watch these programmes if we're around but won't go so far as to tape them.
I think the game will be up when we actually watch it!

My husband and I watched it for completely different reasons (even though I would have, anyway, with or without Julian's silken delivery  ) but he instantly recognised Julian's voice which I thought was hilarious!

Funnily enough my kids also recognised Julian's voice instantly  I don't think any of us will be able to get away with surprised innocence for much longer ...

So what sort of stuff exactly does he have to talk about in this?

The different eras of rock and who the most influential people of that era were.
Yesterday it was the Sixties and Jimi Hendrix was the icon of that era. 'Twas pretty cool, actually- it made me dig out some of my old favourites.

Haha! I wonder if the woman from the shop will be watching it? hehehe!
I think everyone's significant others will all be wearing the same expression.
I know! It's a wand. It's a magical, magical wand.

Watched it last night. My husband groaned and said "I should have known!" (again recognising the voice). However he did enjoy it and has checked that I have booked it in for next week.

I watched it last night, thinking I'll only be watching it for Julian, but it was really interesting. Can't wait for the next one because it's about David Bowie, amongst others.

Not keen on this review of the programme, and can't work out if the comment about Julian is an insult or not! Can anyone explain? Also, is the reviewer blind?http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/tv_and_radio/article1812680.ece?openComment=true

think it's meant to be an insult probably because he pronounces his words properly as they used too on old news reals. Anyway whoever it is is clearly colour blind and probably has an ex-girlfriend who used to talk about Julian too much.

Personally I like the fact that he uses the Queen's English it makes a change

seems like reviewer has a speech problems and as ugly as ( well who is ugly? the reviewer  ) and a looser as well.
Really - if you like rock, you watch the show, if you luv J. you watch the show , if you are neither, who are you to watch the show? <cough>looser</cough>

Well I haven't seen the programme but if he was using his normal accent then I wouldn't describe it as posh at all! He can go a lot posher!
