I actually found myself going to the loo during the programme rather than at the ads. That's how I spotted the one during The Bill Don't know if there were any on later as I didn't watch telly after 9pm
I think I need to get out more
I think we all need to get out more! Did you catch Julian saying that at the end of the commentary on S1 ep9? However I too will have to sit through an entire evening of ITV, I haven't managed to see even one advert yet. Yeh, I've managed to put my banner up...thanks Jools!
I caught the speedboat ad after the late night news on ITV1.
My husband had just returned from the pub, complaining that he was being subjected to Barclaycard ads during every ad break on Sky Sports ... hmmm, I may have to accompany him next time!
i declare my love for you Jools! I almost never watch itv so that only one i'd seen was the trailer with steve putting the map on his head...thankyou so much for putting the clip up
come with me now on a journey through time and space
Funnily enough I've heard a fair few peeps using Julian's line in many jokes.. Alot of my friends keep whipping into our conversations, although I do feel they may be doing it actually, to try and get a reaction out of me....
'Then there are commercials. You do them. There's absolutely no conflict in it. But it is hugely important to do the right ones. ..... If you get one of these it's like a second Perrier Award in itself. You're being benchmarked against giants from Arthur Smith onwards. You've obviously arrived. Barclaycard's like that. It's completely respectable, and Rowan Atkinson did it for years. ... So it's good to see Julian Rhind-Tutt and Stephen Mangan from Green Wing take their place in the new Barclaycard commercials. Julian R-T has floppy blonde hair a la anglais, and Stephen M has shorter dark curly hair which makes them look like Starsky and Hutch. ... Theres a strong narrative tradition here, a highly controlled pastiche element, and some clearly interlinked sex and ethnicity subtexts'.
Well at least all my credit card bills are helping to pay for this. Somehow I'm not as upset by the cost these days as I was when it was Rowen Atkinson

One final treat though.... this is copied for those who can't read the full article....
Mangan and Rhind-Tutt become the last in a long line of stars and high-profile comedy actors to front its campaigns, including Alan Whicker, Rowan Atkinson, who later developed his ads' MI5 agent character for the film Johnny English, and Jennifer Saunders. The final ad in the current series, created by Bartle Bogle Hegarty, will break this Friday on Channel 4 ahead of Big Brother.
