I went to look in the shop, and no review in our edition of The Times either - I just quietly put it back on the shelf and slunk out :D Maybe tomorrow?

There's no review in The Independent today as far as I can see.

well atleast the 2 i've seen have been very complementry about jrt's performance even if they both had the same problem with the play although i feel he's stuck with the words toulse-haired, hearthrob and dashing no matter how good an actor he is

Review in The Independent today praises the actors, also likes the play and it has a picture of Pippa and Julian. I'll try to scan it later if I can't find it on-line.

Thanks for the post about the Telegraph yesterday, ducatilady, and the Independent today, chats.

Everything I've seen in the papers so far has sung the praises of the actors, so I'm really looking forward to seeing the play on Tuesday. :D

Ch1ch1 has posted this in the review section. Thanks :D

Thanks, kath89.

“Does Mum know?” he demands, and the way Rhind-Tutt gets laughs out of this simple line tells you a lot about his supreme comic talent.

...... and he says he's not "instinctively funny" - don't you just love him?!

Thanks for the link kath - interesting review (although quite spoilery!!) and I agree ch1ch1. Even the critical reviews comment on how good all the actors are, and on how witty Julian is.

I am still battling with my scanner for the independent review, so here are a couple of selected quotes -

"The slide into this nightmare is also craftily managed by Penhall and Michell, for Hollander and Rhind-Tutt are explosively funny in their opening scenes. Both highly intelligent actors with impish comic timing, they combine ... with hilariously shambling laddishness. Furthermore, what might have become an arid debate about armaments, ultimately turns into a human tragedy"

I was just coming on to post about that Sunday Times review! It's a whole page in the Culture magazine on p.19 and half is taken up by that photo of Tom throwing rice into Julian's face. Lol!

Saw LWW for the first time last night and it was great to meet up again with ducatilady and tutt-sweet. Really enjoyed the play - drama, comedy, pathos so well portrayed by all the actors.

BUT the best thing was meeting Julian afterwards. Jason Watkins, Pippa and Tom Hollander emerged one by one and signed programmes etc. Pippa was lovely and friendly as usual.

Then Julian appeared, looking very Mac-like in leather jacket and clutching his crash helmet (my heart went flutter!). He spent time signing stuff and chatting with everyone there and was so lovely.

A great and very memorable evening! :D
