Oh I'm such a tit, if only I had kept up with this site as well as 'ours' I wouldn't have agreed to go to see my friends daughter as 'Annie' on the 5th May :( :(

Ah, I'm afraid I won't be able to make it to see the play. I'm so dissappointed! I can afford the ticket and a night's accomodation, it's just the getting there that's the problem. Cheapest I can find is £45 each way on the train, which is money that I don't have on top of the ticket and stuff. I hate being a student. Maybe next time, though.

D'you reckon they'll ever do anoher Green Wing convention? =D that'd be so cool.

I'm from Newcastle and I have been down to London 3 times for the day. It's pretty tiring, but saves the expense of stopping over. I have so far managed to get the price down to £75 inc tube ticket. You can leave the Central about 9am and return 11pm ish if you go to the matinee. You must get a lift from The station home as it is a horrible place that time of night. I haven't booked my ticket yet as even £75 is a bit steep for me at the mo. I am getting very tempted.

Yeah same here, but the problem is still in train tickets. When i found the £45 each way tickets it was two weeks ago - god knows what it's like now. I just don't have the cash at the moment.
Whereabouts in Newcastle (or surrounding area) are you? =)

I realise I am very lucky living so close to London. Have you thought about using the buses - National Express seem to offer some good bargains.

last bus back to hereford is 18.30 and think i may be pushing it to get across london after matinee if it's still like it was when i lived there!

found a train for £32 return gets me in for 11.01 and i leave around 20.15 which seems better the bus is £26.50 so not much difference

I'm going down to London on May 5th and my ticket from Leeds is only £8.10 but coming back on the Sunday it's £18.50 AND I have a detour because of engineering works.
If any if you live on the East Coast main line (GNER) look on their website and register for deals to be sent by email.
When I went o Newcastle with my daughter to look at the Uni we had to use Virgin but their site also has some deals similar to GNER. It's worth a look.

There's alway Megabus if you're really strapped for cash...but you have to be up for sitting on an aging double-decker for a very long time!

Oh my god. I've just looked up your National Express thingymajig and apparently, I can book a morning journey on Monday 28th and a one on Tuesday 29th (at 1130pm) to come home for a MASSIVE - seven pounds.
seven pounds!!!! Which would mean that I'd be able to go and see the play and stay a night and come back - all in time for my birthday!!! Argh, gad!!! I have to ask mum. Can anyone else make the performance on the night of the 28th May?

yik yak yok.

SQUEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

Mam says that as I've been let down by my friends on trips to London before, and because the bus tickets are so cheap she says she'll come with, but she won't see the play (I quote, "I'll just find the nearest bar." lol) so Hurrah!!! I'm going on the 28th! Go me.

I want to book my ticket now, apparently the best available is E-22 - those who've been, where's that?

eeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!! It's only £16.50 for me. I love being a student :D
