well atleast the 2 i've seen have been very complementry about jrt's performance even if they both had the same problem with the play although i feel he's stuck with the words toulse-haired, hearthrob and dashing no matter how good an actor he is

Review in The Independent today praises the actors, also likes the play and it has a picture of Pippa and Julian. I'll try to scan it later if I can't find it on-line.

Ch1ch1 has posted this in the review section. Thanks
ch1ch1 wrote:This is from yesterday's Telegraph (07.04.07). Not the best review Joe Penhall's ever received for his work, I'm sure but the words "uniformly excellent" used to describe the performances make me happy and very, very proud of Julian!

Thanks for the link kath - interesting review (although quite spoilery!!) and I agree ch1ch1. Even the critical reviews comment on how good all the actors are, and on how witty Julian is.
I am still battling with my scanner for the independent review, so here are a couple of selected quotes -
"The slide into this nightmare is also craftily managed by Penhall and Michell, for Hollander and Rhind-Tutt are explosively funny in their opening scenes. Both highly intelligent actors with impish comic timing, they combine ... with hilariously shambling laddishness. Furthermore, what might have become an arid debate about armaments, ultimately turns into a human tragedy"

Saw LWW for the first time last night and it was great to meet up again with ducatilady and tutt-sweet. Really enjoyed the play - drama, comedy, pathos so well portrayed by all the actors.
BUT the best thing was meeting Julian afterwards. Jason Watkins, Pippa and Tom Hollander emerged one by one and signed programmes etc. Pippa was lovely and friendly as usual.
Then Julian appeared, looking very Mac-like in leather jacket and clutching his crash helmet (my heart went flutter!). He spent time signing stuff and chatting with everyone there and was so lovely.
A great and very memorable evening!
