Casting Couch
I thought it would be a good idea to have a space to discuss what roles we would like Julian to play if we were in charge of casting!

Oh yes I'd totally be up for him to play the next Doctor...or even better a villian in the new series so him and the Tennant would be on screen at the same time!
THAT WOULD BE THE GREATEST THING IN THE WORLD. EVER. *hyperventelates*
As for my personal choices ... I find the smarmy Nigel Plumb character in The Rotters' Club strangely endearing, and I think he plays is really well, so a similar role to that would be great. Preferably with the same cool costumes.

How about a period detective series, with Julian as the clever, charming detective Oooh, even better, he could be an amateur detective, who plays the cello for a living - we could have some musical interludes as well then.

The Cello-Playing Detective - geddit?
Seriously though, Julian in period costume playing a philandering dandy would be wonderful but I'd quite like to see him play a role that's completely different to anything he's ever done - preferably a straight as opposed to a comic one. I just think he's such a brilliant actor but because he's done a lot of comedy (and played a lot of foppish characters!), people tend to forget that. Take his performance in The Trench, for example - amazing!

That is a good point ch1ch1 - he was very very good in The Trench. I am always blethering on about Julian doing more theatre. I know he's done lots in the past, but I've missed it! I'd love to see him in something quite intense...bit of Chekov maybe, or how about playing Iago - that really would be unmissable.
