What's to come?
OK, so what with the DVD of Series 2 out now and with it's extra's, I feel we need this thread to discuss the possibilities of what's going to happen in the last ever episode *wipes away the threatening tear*
Now I had a bit of a GW marathon tonight and caught a couple of things.. The first being Holly telling Mac that MiniMac's real father is a secret, and then in the deleted scenes, Holly and Guy talking about their quick fling (where she tells him she thought he gave her chlamydia).
For some reason, up pops into my head.. "Guy is Mackenzie's dad.. dark hair before it was dyed, around the right time.." which would mean that Episode 9 could be:
Start:
Caro and Guy
Mac and Caro
Guy and Holly..
End..
I really want a mac/Caro end.. I know Guy and Caroline are sweet with each other, but I really want a Mac/Caro end to make me feel better that true love does win out in the end.. *vomits*

I'm in agreement that it's going to be Caromac rather than Guyoline - there are those references to Caroline being 'the one' for Mac throughout (e.g. Series 1 when the school children visit the hospital and one of them says 'She could be your one', then in Series 2 with the phone message that Holly deletes where Caroline says 'It's the one here'.)
But although I'm convinced they'll be the couple getting married, I just don't trust those GW writers to give us a straightforward happy ending - they'll be leading us up the garden path and then in the last 5 minutes things will all go very strange, I bet!

On Jonathan Ross, Julian says he thinks it will be after Christmas when ep. 9 is shown.
I have held fast to my theory since 3/4 of the way through the 2nd series about what's going to be the outcome.
I know lots of people are annoyed at the thought it may all be a dream (Mac still in his coma) but I have a slightly different, take on it. Not all of it is a dream - the office girls etc. are real, but I think Mac is still in his coma, but rather than just having random dreams, he can't remember the accident and is sort of trying to make sense of past events in his life (in his subconcious). Take Holly for instance. The whole minimac story was ridiculous - the hair dye, his age being a bit wrong etc. I think he has always suspected Guy slept with her and his thoughts are muddled.
The 'business' with Sue White happened for real and the birth of the lion cub is once again his wonky brain playing tricks.
The Caroline and Guy thing is his subconcious playing out what might happen if he doesn't wake up. That's why every attempt to get close to her has failed in this series.
The bizaar ending of S2 (over the cliff) is him getting to the point of the accident, re-living it. The scene where we think he's been told he's dying is yet again, all in his mind.
In the special I reckon he will eventually wake up and we will find out what really happened. But of course, if Sue white did the deed with the turkey baster - that could throw a spanner in the works.
Anyone agree - even a little bit with my theory?

Minimarsbar, this is all a very coherent explanation, and I have to agree that the coma explanation would cover all of the many and varied weird points. My only query is whether it is actually too coherent for Green Wing?
I am very impressed that you have spent your hours of Green Wing obsessing in a such a productive manner.

Once again chatterbox we are on the same wavelength (an age thing again I suspect!)
One more point I forgot to mention - I had a marathon dvd2 session with my daughter when she came home from uni last weekend and in ep1 where he suddenly wakes up and knocks Caroline out, something struck me (not literally of course).
He is unaware that he has knocked her off the bed, he just looks straight forward and says f*** I've killed a doctor. I took this to mean something happened in the ambulance and he thinks he's killed either Guy or Martin. he then lies down again and all is as I've theorised above.

sob sniff.....so we got the lovely caromac ending we wanted and even a WEDDING! But i was honestly expecting sue to say at some point that actually she had fiddled his records and that he wasn't dying after all....but she didn't. And Caroline and the balloons at the end? strange, odd, and a weak ending i felt...like they had run out of ideas?
I laughed out loud at many parts, but sometimes it just felt that the scriptwriters couldn't be bothered - so much more could have been made out of the wedding, out of them getting together, the joanna/alan line just petered out (but ended in rather a sweet way, even though they were walking to their deaths supposedly) but there were some lovely clever moments, great performances. Like when mac proposed to caroline, faltered, then repeated it in an extremely quiet and emotional voice - sigh!!

I really loved most of it and thought the performances were very good. And didn't Julian look gorgeous throughout, but especially at the wedding?
I'd looked at a couple of spoilers yesterday (no will power, me!) so I'd already got used to the fact that Mac wasn't going to get a reprieve and just resolved to enjoy the wedding scenes, even though they were tinged with sadness.
As to Caroline floating off, someone somewhere else has mentioned that the first time we see her in Ep 1, she's sitting at the bottom of a ladder - so perhaps they were suggesting she'd come a long way since then!

Yep, I thought Julian looked gorgeous at the wedding and in his flowery shirt. We finally found out about the bananery kiss but he is still going to die. Gah! Can't believe this was true, although I want to see the extended ending on the dvd.
Overall, a funny, moving and sad episode which didn't answer all our questions satisfactorily, but this is probably best as it keeps our imaginations running furiously! I couldn't believe it when everyone coughed over Mac's first name!
Julian did seem to be smiling/laughing alot for a dying man, I couldn't decide if it was corpsing or intended. I suppose they all wanted to enjoy their last episode altogether.
When will he be in something else for us to feast our eyes on?
