Stardust

Postby pinks » Mon Oct 23, 2006 6:17 pm

Just been checking on the neil gaiman site...he says the release date has been put back to a provisional March 9th 2007.

Julian plays one of the 7 ghosts, the others being Mark Heap, David Walliams, Adam Buxton, Rupert Everett, Jason Flemyng and Mark Strong. The delicious Noel Fielding of The Mighty Boosh was going to be one of them but fell ill, so Adam Buxton stepped into the part. The film was shot in Iceland, which explains all the sitings there had been and the script was written by Jane Goldman, Jonathan Ross's beautiful wife. The book is fantastic, as all Neil Gaiman's writing is and i'm really rather excited about it. (that was very formal wasn't it!)

Thanks for all that info, is the book called Stardust as well? Sounds worth a read while we are waiting for the film to come out.

definitely definitely worth a read

(if you are into slighty surreal vaguely fantasy type stuff. i don't do fantasy on the whole but neil gaiman's dark twisted humour delights and entertains me!)

I'm on Chapter nine, and OH MY GAWD I am SO excited about this film! I think the ghosts will have a good load of screentime. The brothers who're actually alive are quite scary. Especially Septimus.

Oh mon dieu GET IT READ, NOW!

I'm playing the 'guess who'll be playing which Stormhold ghost' game. So far have only deciphered Mark Heap, Rupert Everett, Mark Strong and Jason Flemyng.

Mark Strong - Septimus
Rupert Everett - Secundus
Jason Flemyng - Primus
David Walliams - Quartus/Quintus/Sextus
Mark Heap - Tertius
Adam Buxton - Quartus/Quintus/Sextus
Julian Rhind-Tutt - Quartus/Quintus/Sextus

Adam Buxton, JRT and David Walliams are a mystery to me. I know how each of them die, except JRT's ghost, but Quartus, Quintus and Sextus are already dead from the start....and no mention of their demise is made.

Neil Gaiman's blog tells of the green-screen prosthetics screentests, and mentions how each of the actors die. So if you haven't read it: look away NOW!"Adam has an axe in his head. David Walliams is chargrilled. Mark Heap is poisoned. And Rupert Everett.. well, you'll see.)" Which means that Mark is definitely Tertius. Who has a dubious almost-sex scene with a chambermaid....

Anyone else know anything about our lovely band of evil ghosts?

I swear that something I read out there gave me the impression that Julian is playing the one called Quintus...I can't find the thing in question but I'm fairly sure!

 Argh! Buggerama! The release date's been pushed back to JULY 2007, now!!!

Apparently Paramount saw a rough cut of the film and thought it would be a 'Summer Blockbuster'. Good for Neil, p'raps not so good for me. But as the GW special has proven, waiting is a game I'm good at.

Ahh I'm on chapter 4 of this book now and it's fab! Even if JRT wasn't in it I'd still really want to see the film. :)

I was just looking at the IMDB for Stardust, and Julian isn't on the cast list, and it is a very long list! Neither is Mark Heap or David Walliams. I will be devastated if he is cut out of another film!!! Anyone have any info about this?

From reading the book I really don't see how they could be cut out without changing the story a lot...so I reckon it's just IMDb being rubbish!

They cut him from the Marple cast list too a while ago but he's back there now.

I really hope you are right Faeriequeen, it is odd to cut three of the ghosts out of it!

I don't think it would make any sense if you cut any of the ghosts!

And since seeing Hot Fuzz, (thrice!!) I must say how much I also love Adam Buxton now. Even though he DID replace Noel Fielding...

If only Noel could replace David Walliams, then it would be perfect!
