In the running for Dr Who?
Heard on BBC Radio London this am that JRT has been mentioned in the press as a possible future Dr Who. Adrian Mills claimed never to have heard of him!
So what's the plan, folks? Will the Queens of Insania get their man the gig by ceaselessly pestering the media?
Over to you!

Much as I would love to see Julian on TV more regularly I agree with cello. It could be the job from hell - for a while at least. Look what a hard time the evil press gave the wonderful Daniel when his James Bond takeover was announced. Perhaps we could have a series of JRT being the Dr Who baddie - we just know he would do it brilliantly...but please no hiding him behind lots of makeup. Why do they keep doing that? OK - it was part of the story , but still...

I still think it's a role he wouldn't want because of the level of public interest and scrutiny that comes with it, plus he's never said anything about being a fan. That said, it'd be bloody amazing if he did get it! Are we really ready for the thousands of tweenies who'll flood the forum if it does happen though?
(Seriously: the Tennant forum used to be rather like this place and now it has over 17,000 members!)

I think Julian would make a wonderful doctor but then so would steve - so would anyone. It seems everyone is being considered by press and bookies atm so I'm not putting any hope into it plus it would cause him to have a HUGE amount of public attention
I'm just going to wait and see

I was on holiday when I heard and my first thought was Julian, but I'm with FQ on this. Would he really like THAT much attention?
I do think Steve would be good probably more in the Tom Baker style of doctor. Somehow I see Julian more the Jon Pertwee style. Although Paterson would be great.
I would love to see John Simm do it but can the Master really become the Doctor

According to THIS article Julian's odds are 33/1 on getting the role...though the **** who's written it dismisses him out of hand calling him "annoying and dandified"!

I think Julian's got the charisma to pull off an amazing Doctor, but if he did take the role, I'd hope that he wouldn't have to follow Tennant immediately - that'd be a realy hard act to follow, Number 10 has been the only Doctor so far thats been a proper 'sex symbol' kind of doctor, and the next one we get is going to be under SO much pressure from all of Tennant's fangirls, it'd be such a hard thing to do. for whoevers taking over, it'll be similar to the rose/new assistant switch except much worse. =/
I know! It's a wand. It's a magical, magical wand.

Well Folks, it looks like the new Dr. Who won't be our man after all:

We'll have to keep our peepers peeled for JRT elsewhere!
Happy New Year!
