Barclaycard

Postby Hells » Wed Oct 04, 2006 2:30 pm

Barclaycard this week rolls out a new national TV advertising campaign replacing Jennifer Saunders with Green Wing actors Julian Rhind-Tutt and Stephen Mangan.

The campaign, which will air on 9 October on ITV after the drama Life Begins, promotes Barclaycard’s Flexi-Rate product

So keep an eye on the Telly guys for the 9th October. It could be what that youtube clip was about.

According to an article in digital spy the clip we saw on Youtube with Julian and Steve in a car is the Barclaycard ad.

Green Wing actors Julian Rhind-Tutt and Stephen Mangan, who played surgeon Dr 'Mac' Macartney and anaesthetist Dr 'Guy' Guillaume Valerie Secretan in the Channel 4 comedy, are to front a new campaign for Barclaycard.

Rhind-Tutt and Mangan play two friends driving across America, living out of a car. Much like their roles in Green Wing, Mangan’s character is careless, whilst Rhind-Tutt plays a more sensible part.

Many celebrities have fronted previous campaigns for Barclaycard including Rowan Atkinson, Alan Whicker, Jennifer Aniston and most recently Jennifer Saunders.

The ads first air on ITV1 after Life Begins on October 9.

Obviously keep a look out for it, as the clip on youtube looks a little short.

It was two-thirds of the youtube clip, but split into two bits, in a flash advert kind of way. No Barclaycard symbol or anything, just a taster to get people guessing ready for the full advert screening next week I guess.

Well who saw the full ad tonight? Bit cheesy, but I enjoyed it :D ... Although I think it's a bit worrying when I am making tea during the programme and watching the ads!

It was on in the first ad-break of Life Begins on ITV 1. I did record it as that was when the ad was rumoured to be shown, but I'm sure you'll get to see it over the next few weeks....!

[ Although I think it's a bit worrying when I am making tea during the programme and watching the ads]

And I thought it was just me doing that! I just watched the ads after 'Life begins' and was disappointed not to see it...so lots more ads watching for me then.

You are not alone ducatilady, I too sat and avidly watched the ads and wondered where the heck it was. :?
BUT, I did set the recorder in case I was interupted and am just off to watch it - now I know which break to look in! :D

...so I wasn't the only one to miss the ad then. :bawl:
I thought that they were showing them after' Life Begins' ..not during! :duh:
Oh well, just have to watch more ITV until I catch it. Come on Chatterbox,[ :hello: ] tell us the plot/what happens then...if there is one?

:hello: back at you tutt-sweet...Just for you, the basic plot is Julian and Steve visit a Rodeo, Steve shows off, Julian remains cool, Steve wears a pink hat and tries competing, unsuccessfully! If I knew how I'd upload it for you, but I don't, and by the time I work it out you will have seen it I'm sure....

Thanks for that Chatterbox.

Steve in a pink hat eh..bet he was thrilled with that?!!

Nice that JRT is as 'cool' as ever though. Will have to watch ITV for a whole evening just to try to catch it! Still, it's worth it just to catch a glimpse of our hero! :swoon:

I saw the ad the same time as you, Chatterbox. My family groaned as I squealed when Stephen and Julian appeared, but by the end of it they were laughing out loud, so the script must have been OK.

Loving the hair in the ad! :D

I'm going home for the weekend so I am so going to be skipping the channels to see this before I go back to my TV-less existence!

Just seen the speedboat ad :dh: It was on before the start of Emmerdale. (yes I know I'm sad but I live in Yorkshire so it's 'our' soap)
The advert was much shorter than the rodeo one but just as funny. Steve plays a complete prat again with Julian to the rescue
