Green Wing Party 3rd January 2009

Postby chatterbox » Fri Sep 12, 2008 8:16 am

I thought I would start a new thread as we have plenty of people wanting to come to the Green Wing Party on 3rd January in London so I can confirm it will definitely be going ahead .... Yay! :D

Plans for the party include GW themed games, some episode watching on a cinema style screen, lots of chat and possibly some dancing as if no-one is watching/like a wolf. It will cost £20 per person, including a buffet lunch.

If you have already contacted me via greenwingparty@googlemail.com I will already have you on the list, and will be in touch in October(ish) with more details. If you haven't had a reply from me yet to confirm that you are on the list, please pm me, and I'll check.

I will update you here with plans as they develop, but if you would like to join us at our first social event of 2009, there is still time - just get in touch!

:dh:

Plans are developing nicely, and things are looking VERY good :D :D

Just a quick note to say that travelodge at Covent Garden (about a 10 minute walk from our venue) has single double or family rooms available on offer for 3rd January for £35. The next decent rate I have been able to find is the Premier Inn at County Hall which is currently £109 per room per night (regardless of size)

The link for Travelodge is here:

I have sent emails to everyone who has contacted me at greenwingparty@googlemail.com, but I thought I would also post in here just in case you are thinking of coming, but haven't let us know yet, or if you don't get the email.....

To add to the offer on the Travelodge rooms.......

I have also reserved 9 twin rooms at the Premier Inn in County Hall to make sure that anyone who wants to definitely has somewhere to stay

This option is more expensive than the Travelodge, but County Hall is a great location, and is also 10 minute walk away from the venue.

http://www.premierinn.com/pti/hotelInformation.do?hotelId=23881

The rooms are £109 each, and do not include breakfast, but as they are twins, they can be shared. If you would like to reserve one of these rooms for yourself and/or a friend, please let me know as soon as possible via the greenwingparty@googlemail.com address, and certainly by 3rd December, when I will be reviewing the booking and cancelling any rooms not reserved.

Getting excited now!

Will do Kim. I'll have a word with Em and Mo and see what we're gonna do as I think we need to get this sorted sooner rather than later

I've sent an email today to everyone who has said they want to come to the party in January. Here is an edited version...

Our party to celebrate all things Green Wing will be held on Saturday January 3rd 2009. The party will be held from 2pm to 11pm. We won’t be publicising the venue on line anywhere to prevent gatecrashers, and would be grateful if you would do the same.

We plan to have all our favourite games plus some new ones during the afternoon, a raffle, and a screening of some episodes in the evening.

A buffet lunch will be included with your ticket, and a bar will be open all day selling hot and cold drinks. An evening meal can be pre-ordered at extra cost by letting me know what you would like from the attached menu. You can then pay for this in advance, or on the night if you prefer.

The cost will be £20 per person, which will include the cost of the venue plus the buffet. I would be grateful if you would send payment by 1st December so that I can start to fund any of the goodies we need for the day.

Once I have your payment I will send you an email by return which will include your ticket to be printed out, and confirm any food order details you have given me.

Phew! I hope that all makes sense…

Looking forward to hearing from you… Roll on 3rd January!!

Kim

The party email address is greenwingparty@googlemail.com

If you didn't get the email, and you think you should have done, please let me know.

Also.... we do still have a few places, so it's not too late to join in if you would like to :D

Been away for the weekend and thought I'd sus out the venue for the 'do' whilst I was in the vicinity.

It looks nice & clean and was very easy to find.

I'm at the travelodge too.
Great price for the night, but the only downside is that we'll have to take our overnight jim-jams etc. to the venue as check-in isn't until 3pm (unless you want to pay an extra £10 to book in early).

I have a few spare tickets for the party as a couple of people can't come after all :(

So, if you haven't already got a ticket, or if you would like to initiate a friend into the finer points of spoon of destiny, let me know...

Hello!

Firstly, I'm sorry! I'm completely rubbish and haven't been around here forever!

and

Secondly, I've booked the Travel Lodge too and I'm sharing with Bikey, so that's 2 more to add to that list.

Can't wait to see everyone - I'm loving our annual meet-ups!!

Hope everyone's well and not too distressed with the run-up to Christmas.
Pimp my topmiler, I look like a drag queen!

Well less than a week to go..... :D

I hope that you all have your party heads ready, and a room booked if you are planning to stay in London. If you have prebooked your food it will be on your ticket, but it's not too late to add to the pre-booking order if you would like to.

We do still have some room, so if you have decided that you would like to join us after all for an afternoon and evening of chat, games and episode watching, just let me know.

Getting excited now :D :D :D

I've not been around much either lately, but looking forward to meeting you all again.
No daughter this time though - you didn't actually scare her off last year - she's just got stuff on this weekend.
She still thinks we are all mad, but likeable at the same time :)
