hello all. The new seasons brochure at the theatre came out at the weekend and this is the first quiet 10 mins I've had. yesterday was hell thank god I'm off for the rest of the week. I'm looking after Jake.
We are already to the point of shortening show names saddly instead of making Julian Lloyd Webber JLW I keep putting JRT
Apparently it's because I'm obsessed. Hope you are all having a good week and enjoying all our golds at the olympics

Have a FAB time Gabriella. Hope the Web works well for you over there too?!

" A few very charming ladies down at my Dad's whist drive have been very kind (average age 75-93). My brother is the headmaster of a special school and I know some of his dinner ladies have been very kind to me as well. "
Thought I'd just post to say "hi!" as I've not been around for a while.
The last 3 months have contained:- best friend dying (at age 45!)
- sister-in-law walking out on brother leaving him with 2 children (he promptly went to pieces so guess who's been looking after the children)
- father seriously ill (and lives other side of the country)
Anyway Father now ok and brother getting his act together so things looking up. I have actually been enjoying going to work for some sanity!
I have "popped in" now and again to keep up with things but have promised myself a day of proper catching up with all the audio additions once the kids are back at school.
Also husband informed me last night that he has booked me and a friend a day at a spa in a fortnight - I think this might be a hint that I'm looking a bit haggard!- but reminded me that he can be very sweet when he puts his mind to it!

Nice to know it's hot somewhere!!!
Some help and advice people.
As you all know I work on Box Office as well as have my business. The question is should I quit the theatre.
I love this job but I'm feeling like I've been here to long. Recently instead of advertising the 2 casual box office staff vacancies they just gave them to the 2 PR girls from marketing as they both said they needed more hours. This would be fine but we are meant to be flexible on what days we can do. However one can only do mon and wed (won't do evenings or weekends cos her fiance wouldn't like it) the other only wed agin no eve or weekends.
I've always done weds but am now no longer needed but I can have sat. This is of course my busiest day for fittings. Myself and Helen have been holding this place together for ages, too many staff that are clueless, and they know neither of us can do sat as Helen teaches jewellery then.
Instead of having the 16hrs we re meant to have I'm getting on average 10 and she is 9. The 2 new ones are getting 20 and 15 .
Apparently it's ok for them to dictate their hours but we have to be able to do anything.
The thing is the extra money from this job is nice it gives me holidays but I feel totally taken for granted seeing as I had to train one of the new ones and I'm often left in charge.
I'm working with the one above my box office manager tomorrow night so going to point out to him that I feel pushed out and that I may look for another job.
What do you all think?

It depends on what your manager says when you have a chat doesn't it? Why don't you see how you feel after that?
You can always do the good points/bad points list. I usually do that to find out what I *should* do, and if I find I don't want to do whatever it suggests, at least it helps clarify it for me

well done Spence get the kids and your other half to run around and look after you now.
We've just had our deputy managers leaving do (pizza and a film- he doesn't drink so seemed better idea than the usual pub crawl) and it turns out while we're all talking that the 2 in PR don't like the amount of hours they're getting as it's too much with their pr jobs. So we're all going to talk to the manager and sort it out as none of us are happy
