This is a new topic, somewhere to write about our Swiss weekend!
I hope you all had a good journey home, its now 37 degrees here in Vevey, but i think the weather is due to break soon.
Thank you all for being such brilliant participants, the fun just seemed to go on & on.
Feel free to write all about it here & let everyone know what we got up to on top of that mountain...or was it just a hill?

Ah Rita it was a flippin' mountian when we were walking up the path by the train tracks to watch the sunrise...which we subsequently missed by 4 mins because it took us so long to get up there.

Many happy memories of our weekend together, the ones that come to mind at the moment, in no particular order, are:

Cowbells! Waking up this morning without that jingling accompaniment just wasn’t the same.
Wonderful food and drink – thanks to Rita’s catering, Bikey’s cooking skills and everyone who helped prepare the meals.
Spoon of destiny – it was an honour to come last with you Penni, I hope you’ve managed to get the sugar out of your clothes now.
Kate’s chocolate cocks on hand whenever we started getting emotional.
Seeing all those great Mac/Guy/Caroline moments in such close detail on the big screen, as well as Statham running around naked!
Sights and smells of the market in Vevey and paddling in the lake.
Seven trains in one day, up and the mountains, sunshine and snow, amazing views.
Rita’s kind, generous family – Ian giving us lifts up and down to the station and advising on places to visit, William and Rosa insisting that they did not think we were all mad (even though I’m sure they really did).
And you lot who were there – you’re a fantastic bunch of people and it was good to be able to spend time chatting with everyone.

Rita, I can’t say thank you enough for making it all happen.

I agree with the cowbell sentiment Rosie, even though we complained about them, it was just too quiet at home yesterday without the tinkling of the cowbells in the background.

Paddling in the lake was a fantastic way to cool down. The swim I took in the lake was somewhat cold to start with but it was wonderful

I really enjoyed the BBQ on Sunday night. The fact that we all derived so much pleasure from colouring in donkey masks is just surreal.

I think I just enjoyed it all so much. It was fantastic. Switzerland is just a beautiful country.

It all sounds so wonderful! I'm so thrilled you had a fantastic time. Any chance of any photos? How many episodes did you actually watch?

Oddly enough it was quite difficult to get everyone inside to watch any episodes, the weather was extrodinarily beautiful & we just sat outside until it went dark. The surest way to get everyone inside was to start the DVD with the Green Wing music playing very loudly...that did the trick.
However we managed to watch the 'phenomenon'..much cheering as Gabriella was spotted at a signing and several others at the Convention.
We watched eps 5 & 6 from series one, plus 'the cliffhanger', several eps from series 2 and of course 'The Special'. As I went to bed earlier than most (around 1 am) I don't know how far into the night the viewing continued.
I must say it was FANTASTIC watching on a big screen with a whole roomful of GW fans. We all spotted things we hadn't noticed before, and cried with laughing so much at times

I agree Rosie. It was a lovely weekend, and great to get to know some of you. The weather was glorious, and the Swiss people curteous, patient and helpful.....wait a minute.....was Guy really half Swiss?

Rosie and the others have said it all - but I don't care as I just have to repeat it!!

Firstly a huge thank you to the entire Rita clan - all so kind, meeting us off the train, running around after us, fixing special screen holding frames, and valiantly joining in our bizarre sugar flicking rituals. And for all the work that went on behind the scenes before we even arrived to make it a wonderful weekend that ran true to the spirit of Swiss efficiency. I don't know how you arranged the weather but that was the icing on the cake (or snow on the mountain).

And thank you also to Penny and Gabriella for the alternative entertainment - I just hope Steve's son can cope with his new nursery artwork. Also to being more than cheered by Kate's confectionary.

Special green rosettes go to Emm for running up the mountain (or was it a hill?) at sunrise and sunset I don't know how many times, to Gabriella for travelling extremely light but still managing to bring her laptop, to Bikey for rustling up a meal for us all without turning a hair, and to Baggie for her cow music - how did she know it was to be so apt!

My childhood and cliched view of the Swiss was upheld with my tick list fulfilled - cow bells, chocolate box chalets, cheese, fine choc and trains running to time (apart from on Sundays!). We even found cuckoo clocks and gold (but no Phil Collins) at the airport.

My overriding impression was of stunning views everywhere you looked and a desire to return at some point. But to me, Ian kissing the cow to the sound of the Whurzles has to be the epitome of the trip.

A wonderful weekend.

everyone has pretty much said what I have wanted to say really

thanks to everyone it was simply the most wonderful holiday ever and special thanks to Rita and family for all the effort they put in

I loved the quiz (mainly because we won) and the colouring in the donkey's was a strange but wonderful moment

I brought a cow bell home to remember the time there haha!

oh and i don't know how i would have survied without gabriella and her laptop - doctor who was awesome and i hope i wasn't too loud whilst we were watching it (i just get a bit too excited)

I will be writing up a big report with photos on my livejournal as soon as I have the chance (bloody computer course - it's almost like having a proper job! ) but I more than agree with what everyone else has said! It was such a great weekend and thank you to Rita and family for all you did to organise it and make it so fab!

However, it's someone else's turn to organise something now...I vote Devon!

A big thank you to Penny for our party bags as I keep looking in it and enjoying all the thought that went with them.
Being back in work is a disaster and I keep wanting to hear the sound of cowbells rather than our antiquated air cooling system and the clicking of keyboards.
Missing the like minded ladies of JRT and Green Wing very much, plus fresh air, blue sky and water, mountain flowers, breakfast outside....

I know how you feel MacV it's all slightly depressing at home. But then again it's always the way when you have such a good time.

Like you I keep peeking into my goodie bag. I think I may well have to down load the CD onto my Walkman, just so I can get a quick reminder every now and then.

It was all just so fantastic, it is really quite hard to put it into words. I'm just so sad that it all had to end and we had to come home.
