Julian's name cast in stone - literally!

I expect a lot of you know this ( and it is old news) but I was informed by a friend of mine (who has started at the Central School of Speech and Drama) that his lordship's name is carved into one of the steps there!...

...Bet you knew that already?! I do apologise if this has been posted somewhere before (I did check, what I thought was relevant threads, and couldn't find it so...)

Ha! No I didn't know that...that is rather amusing...I can just imagine him doing it on his last day of term or something. Unless it's an official thing?

If all goes to plan then in a couple of years I shall be going there too so I'll have to look out for it!

My daughter had an audition at central and when I with her for the initial talk etc. I noticed the steps. They are such an amazingly innovative idea.
They aren't like the 'stars' in Hollywood I'm afraid but they are very finely carved into the steps themselves.

I've certainly never heard that before, what we need is someone to take a photo of said carving!

Wouldn't want them to be anyway! - especially Julian's carving - afterall, we want his name wearing out would we?

If anyone happens to be out at Swiss Cottage with a camera, Central is only a couple of minutes walk from the tube station.
The steps open out onto a sort of (public) plaza so no-one would think anything about you having a nosy. There are hundreds of names though up about 20 steps.

Well I'm a just a short bus ride away from there MMB, so I'll consider it my mission to go and have a look (armed with camera, of course).

Thanks Rosie. It was 2 years ago and it did go OK although she didn't get in because they said she looked too young, and also they like them with a bit more life experience.
Her actual audition (we went twice - once to look round and once to audition) was on her 18th birthday. Girls have to have their hair tied up and must not wear any make-up whatsoever for the audition - well, my poor girl could have passed for 12 literally
In fact 2 weeks ago when we were in London for something else she still got away with half fair on the tube and she's now 20!
They receive over 5000 applications a year so on the bright side, she was one of only about 700 to be auditioned – an achievement in itself.
Julian obviously had what they were looking for (of course)

Finally made it down to Swiss Cottage with the camera (and some good weather), so here are a few pics of the steps - as you can see, Julian's in illustrious company.

The steps are in front of the theatre attached to the Central - the entrance with the school's name over it is to the right of the building.
