I haven't watched Skins at all Maybe I should give it a try or is it too late now?

But, I have been watching Gene Hunt, and even though I don't think A2A is quite is good as Life on Mars, I'm still having a great time with it - and isn't Phillip Glenister fantastic?

He certainly is, Chats, enjoying my weekly double dose of him with Clocking Off on Tuesday and then A2A.

Quite like Skins as well and Bill Bailey's an excellent addition, as DL's already mentioned. Harry Enfield is amusing as another 'dad' and the teen characters are well written - mad Cassie is a favourite (and not just because the actress who plays her once said she liked Julian ).

I am enjoying my double dose of Mr Glenister too - actually 3 if you count his interview with Moylesy on Radio 1 - I simply love the sound of his voice! - makes me go all weak at the news - he is another favourite (newly-found - for me anyway)

I have failed. Even my monumental love of Philip Glenister as The Guv can't keep me watching after this week. I just cannot get on with the Keeley Hawes character. It might be a case of 'it's not her, it's me' (especially as her recent skincare product advert makes me want to put pins in my eyes) but it has spoilt the experience for me and I'd rather just watch my LoM boxsets for the Guv!Love

I did catch Skins though, and I though Bill Bailey was great. Fantastic addition to a talented cast and a good bit of telly

I do miss John Simm, but I think that particular set-up had run its course.

We do need an irritant and a partner to keep Gene Hunt on his toes though, and I think a woman is a good choice for the 80's. What I'm not so convinced about is the need for sexual tension, so I hope they don't overplay that one.

I agree Kim; my problem is definately not with the character being a woman, but I am just not a big fan of the way the Alex character is being played. And ditto re the UST element - The Guv would not be compromised so easily

Having thought about it, I would quite liked to have seen someone like Sarah Parish or Nicola Stephenson in the role. I think they could have held their own in the alien 80s without overdoing the smug bit. Although perhaps they had to have a younger woman for the mother backstory to match up. In which case...Lucy Davis? Christina Cole? Ruth Wilson?

A wicked little part of me would have loved to have seen la Gomez do it. Imagine Gene Hunt vs Sue White. I would pay for front row tickets

I did watch skins, sometimes I wonder why I watch it as it's so unlinke reality but BIll was so great as the dad, especially with the accent and the dancing thign with the dog haha!

I am a newly converted zealot to both skins and the collussus that is Gene Hunt.
Unlike you ladies I'm afraid I much prefer Keeley Hawes to John Simm (I know damn and blast my eyes). They wanted to make it like Moonlighting and I used to adore Moonlighting. I am also very pleased that Ray and Chris got to come for the ride in the quatro.
As for Skins that Maxie is a fine bit of fluff

got to admit it was the first one I've really enjoyed. Only ended up watching it as Channel 5 lost the Everton UEFA cup match to ITV4.

The episode ended with one of my favourite songs of all time Ghosts by Japan. Very nostalgic!

Totally changing the subject I spent a (suprisingly) enjoyable 2 hrs at the theatre yesterday afternoon with Mini Mac watching Rainbow Live- Zippy Superstar DJ.

Felt like I was a kid again, came home with my own Zippy, George and Bungle. Jeffery has now become James who looks like a slightly younger trendier H from steps. Jake loved it , think most of the adults there had wanted to go more than the kids. Sadly Jake did sing along to S club 7 but he's 4 so I'll forgive him seeing as he then came to my house to watch the Muse HAARP dvd.

Anyway they are touring the country and I recommend anyone with kids to go ( or even if you don't have kids borrow one thats what I did).

Most fun I've had at the theatre since last spring/summer if only I could remember who I kept going to see then

Just saw my first trailer for the new Dr Poo and yes Catherine Tate does spoil it. It may sound bizzarre coming from someone in her late thirties but she is just too old.

And, I quite like Catherine Tate, not so much for her sketch show, which was good to start with, then got repetitive, but because she is a fan of GW. Fans of GW always get my vote
