If Julian oozes any more sex in tomorrow's episode I may not be responsible for my actions. God bless the director for all those close-ups of the eyes and hair - they make me want to buy a massive widescreen TV to watch those scenes to their full potential. Julian costing me more money

I'm loving previously unseen Evil!Julian. He is having a very worrying effect on me....

Another fine performance from Mr Rhind-Tutt - our boy just keeps getting better and......more evil - mwahhahahaaaaahh!

That stare he gave Rose when he was hugging his grandfather...OMG! :swoon: ..

My husband is rather enjoying Oliver Twist and he's mightily impressed with Julian as a baddie. He goes: "Refillable evil!" in a dramatic voice every time he comes on.

So's James Henry by the look of things ..............

 at your husband chi!!

My sons (aged 15) are also really enjoying this, even though it clearly isn't their usual thing at all, so I think it does seem to have been a real success all round.

Really looking forward to the final episode tonight - I wonder whether they will keep the original ending for our Edward?

It's already up for pre-order on Amazon and Play.com. :)

Just caught up with last night's episode and I love how he managed to get even more evil! That speech to Mrs Corney when he was at the workhouse about killing them and leaving them lying in "pools of their own blood" - *shivers*
And yeah that smile when he was hugging his grandfather. GAH!

Loved that speech too and the look he gave rose while hugging his grandfather. In fact loving it all.

Made the mistake of trying to wrap xmas presents while watching it last night my mum almost ended up with a kitten in her present . Decided not to build Jakes scooter until it finished God knows what it would have ended up looking up.

On the new fans front 6 friends coverted both mine and my mum's neighbours and my Aunt in Liverpool all of who only watched it so that they could see who this bloke was I keep to going to see.

I was playing around on Google :D There's a link here http://www.bbcshop.com/invt/bbcdvd2572
I just hope there are loads of extras on the DVD when it finally comes out, not least the filming of Julian having to stick his fingers up Mr Bumble's nose :jd:

Well the badguy got his commupence as expected! Julian normally plays such calm and collected characters so it was nice to see him get angry and struggle against those policemen. Also loved all the closeups of his face...he was putting those gorgeous eyes to wonderful use...when Mr Brownlow said he was disinheriting him you could physically see a change in them. Brilliant!

And...my screencaps of Episode 2 are now done and available HERE.
Yeah, I went a bit capping crazy. Lol. These are bigger than the last lot because they're not off the BBC iPlayer. Here are a few of my favourites:

Thanks for the screencaps FQ - am loving the fifth and final one a LOT! Talking of final; I thought tonight's episode was a bit rushed - anyone else think that? and not nearly enough of Edward as I had hoped - I thought he might have kidnapped Rose or something or perhaps even Oliver? but as it had to be concluded, I suppose they couldn't really start another story?!!!
Loved the :
"No tender farewell then?"
comment to Rose - still trying try his luck with her...hehe he's so nasty but so damn good at the same time! - I take my hat off to you Mr Monks/Julian!!!
Looking forward to the 30th now!!!

Ooh and thanks Ch1 for the link - not sure about calling him "Bacon Rhind" though? how rude!

A great final episode I thought - they had built up Julian's character a lot from the book, to make Monks, rather than Sikes, the bad guy, but without changing the plot too drastically! I do wonder how soon Julian was cast, as the part, and the dialogue, seemed to be made for him.

Very clever and very enjoyable, but I'm more than a bit sad it's over now :(

Kim - how did you get your avatar? and what code do you copy and paste? (asi have always used my own pictures for an avatar? so I am new to all this)
Was just trying to see if I could find that article in last sunday's Observer magazine when I cam e across this write up of Oliver (amongst other programmes):

http://observer.guardian.co.uk/review/s ... 74,00.html

Love how coincidently they mention Mr Pastry but really not sure about referring to Julian as the "blond moptop star of Green Wing" - blimmin' cheek!

I got that as a google alert this morning - I think they are being a bit patronising about Julian, but agreed with the comments about Sarah Lancashire. I did think it was a bit of a shame that the last time they acted together, in Rotters Club, she was just as gorgeous as Julian - this time she certainly lost out

As for my avatar, I copied the picture into my own files, then adjusted it for size, but you can copy the url code into the right box in your profile, and that should work, assuming the file is small enough (under 6kb).

Pm me if you are still having trouble.

Thanks for the screen caps, FQ!

Think the BBC can count this as a success, as three generations of my family all enjoyed it and didn't miss an episode, despite some knowing the story and others not. Thought the atmosphere of the different settings came across effectively and there were great performances all round, particularly from our Julian. :D

As you can see, Kim, I did manage to change my avatar - thanks FQ for the screencaps so I was able to make an avatar out of them (finally worked out how although, really not that difficult but, yay me!)

Isn't he wonderfully talented? I'm so, so proud!!!!! :lv:

So sad that Oliver Twist is now at an end - there never seems to be enough Julian on TV or in the cinema or on the London stage for me ............... :bawl:

Can't wait to see his next incarnation!

Ooooh, that was good, wasn't it?!?!
Quoth my mam,
"He does play a splendid villian, doesn't he?"

Yes! More villians, please! That was good! I was all "Eee! Bad character! We hate him! But we love him even more!!! Whoo!"

I quite liked the adaptation, too. It was good although I've never read the book. I should.

Yes more villians, though. STAGE villians!! Stage vilians would be fun! More at the National! Woohoo! Aw man. I so want to be in something with him. It'd be well fun XD
I know! It's a wand. It's a magical, magical wand.
