Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct

Before posting on the board please read the points listed below. Failure to comply with any of these rules with result in automatic suspension of your account. By joining the board it is taken that you have read and will comply with the conditions laid out below.

This is not exhaustive by any means, but will hopefully give you an idea of what is and isn't acceptable. Above all, we ask you act in a way considerate to other users of the forum.

Anyone continuously breaking general ‘netiquette’ may be the subject of further action, e.g the removal of posting privileges

Abusive Language
Strong language can often be used as an effective way of stressing your point. However, language that is intended to abuse or upset other members will not be tolerated. For example, “life’s a bitch” is perfectly acceptable, but we will not tolerate any language which is directly aimed at any individual, whether a member of the forum or not. It’s a fine line between playful banter and abusive language, but please remember that the intended recipient of banter may not see it as you intended, so use common sense when posting.

Please note that because young users browse the forums, language of a strong vulgar or sexual nature will not be tolerated.

Post in the right place
When starting a new topic, please make sure you post it in the right place. There are descriptions under each forum name that should guide you if you aren’t sure. Topics started in the wrong forum will be moved. Please check that the topic hasn't already been started elsewhere.

Language
Text speak is a great thing when texting a friend, but messages like this on a forum can be difficult to read, especially for those who’s first language isn’t English and others who aren’t part of the texting generation. We also strongly encourage the use of full and grammatically correct English in paragraph format, although rest assured the spelling and grammar police are not in force. It doesn’t take much extra time to type messages fully, and you’re likely to get a much better response and respect for it. This also helps with the visual impact of the board for all users.

Please also refrain from MAKING POSTS IN CAPITAL LETTERS – it’s more difficult to read and is considered shouting online.

Respecting others
We encourage discussion and debate of a lively nature, but please remember to respect others on the forum. You might disagree with them, but it doesn’t mean they are wrong. Deliberate ‘inflaming’ posts (meant to cause argument) will be removed and the account may be suspended.

Privacy
We expect others to respect our own privacy and that of anyone else (including celebrities). Please do not post any information that may inadvertently reveal other people's identities, addresses or other details of a sensitive nature.

Live Chat
The board is not designed as a live chat area but as a general notice board. Although there is a general chat area, please do not enter into live chat conversations (as this can be quite boring to others and will result in deletion of posts). If you want to have a live/non Julian related chat then please use another chat program such as MSN messenger.

Spamming
Spamming (starting threads just to advertise other sites) will not be tolerated. This includes posting affiliate links and trying to extra visitors to your site by posting an advertising-type message. You may, however, edit your profile and add your link to the ‘homepage’ field and add the address to your signature. We reserve the right to remove any links that we deem unsuitable for our visitors.

Libel & Copyright
Please refrain from posting libellous messages and material that breaches copyright. If you are posting a newspaper or magazine article, please give the name of the publication and the date it was published. We really must enforce this for legal reasons, so continued abuse of this WILL result in your posting privileges being removed.

Signatures, avatars and images.
Please check the required format for signatures (max 500 x 50) and avatars but we ask the signature images do not exceed the window size and are restricted to one line only. Images need to be saved before posting them to the site and again we ask that they are kept to a reasonable size (particularly not exceeding the window size), it stands to reason that images should not be offensive in any way

Just a reminder about signatures....

I have updated and enlarged the signature size to be allowed on the forum to 600 x 80 pixels, so please can you check that your signature complies with this rule.

I know this is a bit boring, but this is because of the load time with lots of big signature files, particularly when people are using mobile internet.

Thanks for your help with this everyone x :foru:
