Hi all
I can't see any mention of Julian on the radio for the next couple of weeks, but if you know otherwise please let me know. I've tried to gather as many radio clips as possible (in media section of website) and I really recommend the Sicilian Expedition clips, if you want a real delight put one of the half naked piccie of Julian on your screen and skip to the 1st 2 mins of part 1 and at about 23 mins in part 2...believe me you won't regret it, but you may well need to have a lie down afterwards!

Hiya,
I posted this at the channel 4 forum but thought I'd put it here too! Its a short, behind-the-scenes video about the making of 'Basil' which, of course stars JRT...
Go to the site below and click on 'play video'. I found it quite an interesting watch - enjoy!

I love how Julian was using his arms when he was doing that monologue. Such an expressive man.

Have you got windows media player?

Yep, but this thing pops up saying "download windows media player codec" and when I click ok on that it doesn't do anything.
Maybe it's because this computer's memory is really full?

It could be. Have you got any video's on your pc, as they take up a fair bit of memory, or failing that you could get some extra memory. they don't cost all that much.

Nope no videos on this computer. It's complicated as it's my mum's main work computer and I'm actually not supposed to use the internet on it...so shh! :p
I'm getting a laptop soon anyway.

It doesn't work for me either, but it's a problem I have with my computer. Every time I want to watch a video clip like this one, my computer reports some kind of an error and shuts everything down.

That was great! Good find! I'm looking forward to listening to the actual thing on 'listen again' when the house is peaceful!
I do enjoy imagining JRT playing the roles!

Whoop I'm listening to it now!
ETA: I've managed to get that video to work now on a different computer...except this one doesn't have sound.
ETA 2: Eeek! Angry and scary Julian on the radio serial.

hey so who listened to "basil" on R4 a wee while ago? i initially only listened to it cos of jrt but i was surprised by how much i actually enjoyed it. it was a really good story. jrt has such a good radio voice, i love the way he annunciates his words, and i think it shows how good an actor he is since he is only using his voice to communicate his part in the story. (it probably helps that i really love his voice anyway, its so sexy.)
for anyone who missed it and wants to catch it, it is being repeated on saturday night at 9pm on radio4. i cant wait for part 2 next week, either.

Yeah he is brilliant at using his voice to convey emotion...and it is incredibly sexy! My dad had to record the voiceover for something once and he was surprised by how difficult it is not to make your voice sound flat and boring...so you do need skill to be good at it.
I also really got into the story but that didn't stop me googling the book it's adapted from and finding out what happens!
It should be on the Radio 4 Listen Again thing for a week.

Throughout Basil I think JRT sounds incredibly like Colin Firth.
Growl.
And that video is a brilliant find! Gives a great insight into the making of radio drama! I loved it. And JRT in his hoodie looking embarrassed as his assault of a box was played back wasn't bad either!
Hey I have a petite questionne to put to the mods here. My profile is set to HTML on...yet it's telling me at the side it's off and it won't let me upload an avatar or signature. Can you help me, please? Ta muchly.
