In the Red - BBC7
Did anyone else listen to Himself this morning at 8.30 then?
IN THE RED
Bank managers are being murdered through the ingenious use of one pound coins, but George Cragge is on the case.
[Rptd today at 10.00pm and Thursday at 3.00am].
Julian was, as usual, excellent - albeit with a Northern accect [which I thought he carried off really well].
It must have been recorded some time ago I think, as the main character George, is played by Michael Williams [late husband of Dame Judi Dench] who died some time ago now.
The play is witty & amusing & has some excellent characters. Julian plays a speech writer but his office is below the local S&M parlour!! Much hilarity occurs when the speech written by Julian's character [Henry] is being rehearsed, only to be drowned out by the screams from the floor above!
Michael Williams is also excellent & I urge everyone to listen as I'm sure it prove to be another triumph for JRT. Just wish he was on tv as much as he is on the radio!!

Hi Rita,
There are 7 episodes of 30 mins each. Worth a listen. Julian's Northern accent is fab!

I listened Friday morning on the listen again link and I must say (as one from West Yorkshire) that the accent wasn't too bad. Quite non-descript, but that was OK. There is a real difference between the North, West and South Yorkshire accents and at least he didn't slip into Lancashire as so many do when trying to be Yorkshire. Lancashire is quite distinct from all the Yorkshire accents but many southerners can't tell the difference
