Have just heard episode one of Three Men In a Boat on BBC Radio 4 Listen Again, and it's absolutely charming and funny - a very good rendering of the original book.

Julian seems to get the lion's share of the dialogue, and he also gets to voice the thoughts of Montmorency the dog. Lovely stuff.

Anyone else listening?

I listened yesterday afternoon & thought Julian was superb. Quite right that he got the "lion's" (?! ) share of the dialogue too! Both his voices/accents for J. & Montmorency, I thought, were inspired.

It's a charming book & was beautifully dramatised for radio. Hugh Dennis & Steve Punt gave a good account of themselves too, but I think JRT was definitely the star!

Can't wait for the next episode!

Fine. :gp: Really a classic story. It cheered up my day.
The story is always amusing and the perfomance was full of enjoyment.
It was nice to listen and JRT and other actors were so good.

Thank you to tutt-sweet for finding these sketches.
Lovely autumn time :D
