Eve magazine Feb. Issue

Postby ch1ch1 » Mon Jan 15, 2007 7:25 pm

Here's a snippet of an interview with Julian from Eve magazine. I'd scan and upload it but my sorry excuse for a computer has finally died on me -after years of idle threats! - so I've had to type this on my laptop. I'm sure someone will upload it soon, anyway (I'm looking at you, fairiequeen! - please?). I melt whenever Julian talks about his Dad - I just find it so incredibly, heartbreakingly sweet. Sigh ! Just when I thought I couldn't love him any more than I do...............................

"Peering through his long, carroty fringe with his liquid blue eyes, Julian Rhind-Tutt is advising me that although there is definitely a small creature crawling through the chicken, avocado and endive, it is only a salad bug and will do no harm. This is exactly what you'd hope for from a lateral comic: the ability to make you fancy him and laugh at him simultaneously. He's on edge today, though - reaching for his vibrating BlackBerry, full of apology - he's exchanging on a new flat and trying to persuade his 80-year-old dad to move in, too. 'He's doddery and fun and could do with a bit of care, if he'll let me.' So funny, attractive and the kind of guy who's prepared to look after an elderly parent...... This is going to be good ......."

Oh my! I'm all hot and bothered after reading that!

And admitting his status would affect his fan base? How shocking is that?! Talk about lack of freedom of expression! :o Are the C4 forum mods his agents?

@lol@ I get the feeling Julian said that with his tongue firmly in his cheek, knowing fully well that it may or may not come across in print. Ambiguity is a great way to avoid a personal question (and why shouldn't he if he's not comfortable doing the opposite?) - not just a pretty face after all, eh?

I'm propably being too Jane Marpleish here, but the interview can not have been made before September 2006, because:

"William Boyd's novel, Restless, is published by Bloomsbury on September 4"

But nevertheless, how cute and sweet was that!!! He and his dad... And I love his humour, too. "Affect his fan base", haa haa. And that "gay gay gay" -bit... Poor Julian.

The 'salad bug' thing made me laugh. I however am less sensible about it and run to the other side of the restaurant, inaudibly and disbelievingly pointing at the offending plate.

I think it was certainly before Sept as his Segway experiment was at the end of May. The extra pieces of info can just be added later by the journalist or editor. It seems like this is a filler piece for the magazine.

Size 11 red patent stilettos
He's six feet tall and has size 11 feet?!!! Crikey
Just thinking out loud - still love ya, baby

BTW, Funk-eh B! the article is from the Feb. 2007 issue of Eve magazine but it seems to have been printed loooong after the interview took place- pretty slack, if you ask me.

The one on his wikipedia page of him in the suit and leaning forwards. Seen it a million times but never quite so big and glossy... *drools*

What a sweet interview! :lv: Although the description of him in the editor's introduction isn't very nice!

"...perhaps the very definition of you shouldn't, but you would."

How mean! :x

What a sweet interview! Love JRT Although the description of him in the editor's introduction isn't very nice!

"...perhaps the very definition of you shouldn't, but you would."

Everyone's entitled to their opinion (*vainly tries to conceal pitchfork under clothing* :x ) but did she have to air it in such backhanded terms on the editor's page?

Exactly! At least come out and say it like a man! :? Well, woman...

We must just take sanctity in the fact that if she thinks that about JRT, she is patently, blatantly, obviously insane.

So there.

*reads interview for the fourteen millionth time*

That may be the case. I also think that when you loose a parent you become very close to the one that's left. I'm very close to my dad and have been since my mother passed away many moons ago. I think you feel very protective towards them :D

I agree entirely Baggie. I feel the same about my mum since I lost my dad.

Not often do you find a single/unattached male willing to take on the 'caring' role though. I think he's a star in every sense of the word. :swoon:

How proud must his dad be eh?!!

:lv:
" A few very charming ladies down at my Dad's whist drive have been very kind (average age 75-93). My brother is the headmaster of a special school and I know some of his dinner ladies have been very kind to me as well. "

i'm sure his dad is very proud and so he should not because he's famous but just cos he seems a really honest genuine caring man don't know many that would want their dad to move into their new bachelor pad because they wanted to make sure they were looked after. he always seems to talk about him in such an affectionate way and they seem to get on really well.

As someoone who spent 5 years of their 20's looking after an elderly relative i know how hard it is but also v. rewarding.

lets face it it's another reason why no other men compare and i really should stop trying to compare them all to him
